KL Bird Park and Butterfly Park

Image
Oct 9, 2010 – Spent a good portion of the day at the KL Bird Park and Butterfly Park.  Here are some more pics from the day.   Neither a bird nor a butterfly me thinks. Great colors nonetheless.                        Great Greenery at the Butterfly Park.

Photo of the Day – KL Butterfly Park

Image
Although the butterfly park in Kuala Lumpur is somewhat overshadowed by KL Bird Park, it is a great place to visit in its own right.  The close vicinity to Bird Park means that both can easily be visited in the same day.  Below photo was taken at the Butterfly Park and is definitely one of my favorite pictures of the year.  Photo taken on 9th October, 2010.

Great videos

Let me reiterate once again, I love good music videos.  Simply love them.  Always have, always will.  Bjork a “rare and unusual” person, to borrow a phrase from Beetlejuice, has provided the world with some of the more uncommon music videos ever seen. Michel Gondry has been responsible for a number of them (the man behind several Chemical Brothers videos). The video for “All is full of love” is simply amazing.  Even after all these years (released in 1999), the video retains the same ability to awe the viewer with stunning visuals and the simplicity with which it is shown.  No other video of Bjork’s in my opinion so perfectly encapsulates her unique vocal talents.  The video and song match each other perfectly creating a harmony that is often missing in today’s videos.  Again, it is a simple video with a simple theme.  The stark colors, the deliberate camera movements and “uncanny valley” effect of Bjork’s face on the robot combine to create a strong impression, one that is destine

Wrapping Up 2010!

Image
Another year comes to an end.  Same as every year, this one seemed to end even faster than the last.  Will create a best of 2010 photos sometime later, but here are just some of my many favorites of the year:     NO cars, no jams, Uttara can be a great place to walk around in on special days such as this…..   Ahh, the gritty b/w look courtesy of CS5.  Pabna 2010.     Little Ilano…..   Although taken in b/w, this was also tweaked in CS5.  Great shot of Pepper.   Happy Ma and Baba on Radiv’s Graduation day.   Another pic from Rad’s graduation day.   Bhutan, 2010. Great trip, and was a great beginning to the year as well.

Why I love Photoshop – Fixing Skies

Image
A nice view of the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne but this time with a sky that actually looked like it did that day.  Again, just a few seconds is all it takes and voila, everything looks so much better.

Why I love Photoshop – Getting Rid of Noise

Image
Below photo was taken with a Sanyo digicam that I had, which was unbelievably noisy even at ISO 100 and below was taken with ISO 178.  Thanks to photoshop, it took only a few seconds to get rid of the noise and considerably brighten the photo and make it perfectly useable for web viewing.  There was a lot of ugly noise everywhere, in the shadows, my shirt (and there still is but not objectionable) and the whole picture was dark and muddy, but as you can see, nothing that can’t be fixed.

Glorious Gold Coast
